Winter is a wonderful time for all kids of warming drinks. That’s true that this year we have been truly spoiled by the weather, and a hard frost as well as snowdrifts seem to belong to the past. Despite that fact it’s still nice to drink something well-seasoned, something that will make the blood circulate in our body a little bit faster, but also something that will please our taste buds, which after all are willing to experience such extraordinary sensations. However, what should we do if we cannot drink a glass of mulled wine in the middle of the day?
I’ve never been fond of dried fruit compote and especially its strange flavor, because it neither looked nor tasted well. That’s true that with age our preferences tend to change, however, in my case, I was also lucky to find a delicious recipe for such a compote, whose ingredients bring back memories from my childhood – which seem to be no longer relevant. All these thanks to a wonderful author, who not only stimulates the imagination of her readers through introducing them to a wonderful world of fiction mixed with true events, but also shares recipes which have been ruling in her family for years. Ałbena Grabowska, as has been mentioned before, proposed dried fruit compote in a completely new shape, you can find this recipe in one of her books titled: ‘Stulecie Winnych. Notes kulinarny’.

Ingredients:
- 200 g of prunes without stones inside
- 100 g of dried apples
- 100 g of dried pears
- 100 g of dried apricots
- 100 g of dried cranberries or figs
- 1 orange
- 1 lemon
- 5-6 cloves
- a piece of cinnamon bark
- honey
Preparation:
Rinse and drain your dried fruit, pour it with boiled water. Leave the pot with such prepared fruit for around 3-4 hours.
Wash the citruses well, next blanch and slice them well. Add all the citruses to dried fruit together with the cinnamon bark and cloves. Simmer everything for around 25 minutes. You should be careful not to make the fruit fall apart while boiling. Taste the compote, if you like sweet flavors, you should definitely season it with honey.
This variation of dried fruit compote has really stolen my heart, I hope that you will also fall in love with it. Bon Appetit!

See you around!
Yours,
Passion Piece
