Travels with passion: Kolejkowo

Passion Piece - Kolejkowo 14

Have you ever dreamed of moving to the Wild West and visiting a local saloon? Maybe you’d like to see American Indians simmering a white intruder? For these less courageous a visit to the nearby castle or the winter town would also be a great treat! How is it possible? The answer is only one: Kolejkowo!

Winter break is a season, which encourages us to spend our time with kids both the little ones and the older ones. Last week I had a chance to visit a place, which would satisfy the wildest dreams of young Indiana Jones, as well as a fragile princess, who would feel like having a ride in an elegant buckboard. Kolejkowo is an amazing tourist attraction, it’s a place presenting world in miniatures, and according to the information included on the website, everything has been minimized 25 times!

In this elaborately prepared miniature world you will see the scenes from everyday life of people living not only in the countryside, but also the ones living in big cities. The diversity of all these constructions and little figurines can really create a breathtaking effect. Why? Each miniature model presents unique stories such as hiking in the mountains, rescue operations or a lazy Sunday walk. One can see there people coming from different social classes and doing different jobs. You can have a closer look at the lorry driver’s work, as well as the one done by a forester or even by a circus artist. An impressive fact is that lots of trains and cars can move on their own, what’s more the visitors can also admire a ship sailing on the surface of real water! Moreover, to make everything look even more realistic, the time of the day also keeps changing, every 9 minutes the night falls, the lights are turned on not only inside the little buildings, but also outside in the streets the streetlights are lit up. You can also come across dark stormy clouds, which produce real rain!

Besides the exotic Wild West scenery, the miniature models present places, which are well-known to the residents of Silesia, such as the railway station in Gliwice and its Town Hall, as this unique tourist attraction is located in the earlier mentioned Gliwice.

I truly recommend this place for a family weekend trip, although a certain drawback of Kolejkowo is that it’s really crowded in the whole building and one needs to be careful not to be stomped on by excited kids, who desire not only to admire all these elaborate installations, but they also want to play with them, And you? How do you spend your winter break with kids?

See you around!

Yours,

Passion Piece

That place sounds amazing. I'd love to take my nieces there...but that's really an excuse for me wanting to go and take a ton of Instagram shots of those miniature towns. That gingerbread house was divine!

So much detail is in this display. I find the guy doing pushups by the truck an unusual thing.

This is really awesome. When I was younger I always wanted to build something like this. I never got a chance to. Maybe someday.

This is so cool! It reminds me of the Miniatureland from Hamburg, which I visited a few months ago. I loved looking at all those tiny details.

This is so awesome! I used to take my sons to railroad model museums that were just like this. I miss those days!

Wow what a detailed display! I’ve watched many of those movies and used to wonder what it might be like. So I can see how this might interest some.

This is so cool! I never knew there were museums for railroad models. We never had a toy train set when younger, so I'd love to see this.

Dlatego trafiają one do każdego w każdym wieku i w każdym nastroju. Mamy nadzieję, ze to początek wspólnej przygody :) Do zobaczenia
