The weekly interview: Delfina & Bartek

Passion Piece - Delfina & Bartek

Have you ever wondered how your life would change if you were artists? Who wouldn’t like to inhabit different characters on the stage, wear beautiful and colorful costumes or travel the world? Who wouldn’t like to be admired by a worldwide audience and to be in the spotlight? I suppose that for many of you such a perspective of leading an intense and full of experiences life seems to be just a trivial fantasy or an unattainable dream from the years of your early childhood. While watching various talent shows we can admire people who have made their dreams come true. People made of flesh and blood, who are just around us and from whom we can draw all kinds of inspirations. Being popular and respected by others is something one needs to deserve through hard work and talent. That’s why, in the first place, we should admire them for their determination and consistency in pursuing their goals, as without such an attitude no or almost no success would be possible. No matter whether their performance tickles your fancy or not, the most important is what you can learn from them through observing their way of thinking and attitude towards life.

I’ve never perceived myself as a person who could be an artist, as I thought that I lack talent and even the smallest predispositions to be someone outstanding. After many years, I got to know that many things which I haven’t gained yet were probably within my reach, but unfortunately I lacked motivation and people who would help me develop my interests. A few years ago, while watching one of the most famous talent shows in Poland, I had a chance to see wonderful performances of outstandingly talented people, and one couple really stuck in my mind … it was Delfina & Bartek, a couple specializing themselves in acrobatic gymnastics, who just stole my heart with their tenderness, sensuality and attention to smallest details of their performance. It’s never crossed my mind that I’ll have a chance to interview this truly unique duo, who are a couple not only on the stage, but also in their private life. I’m really proud to present you Delifna & Bartek, who will share their recipe for success with you!

Passion Piece: Could you tell my readers a few words about yourselves?

Delfina & Bartek: We’re the acrobatic duo Delfina & Bartek and we won the 5th edition of Polish Got Talent on TVN. Besides the fact that we’re a duo on the stage, we’re married so we’re also a couple in our everyday life.

Passion Piece: How did your adventure with acrobatic gymnastics start?

Delfina: My journey started in a bit different way, as I started out with dancing. I was a dancer for 11 years. Whereas Bartek practiced acrobatics, and in the meantime gymnastic fitness for men. A good occasion to try ourselves together was Bartek’s break in practicing acrobatics, as he didn’t have a partner, but of course we didn’t really think back then that we would find ourselves in such a place today. We decided to combine our passions and try ourselves in duo. The fact that we enjoyed working together and the successes we achieved with time, motivated us to work even harder.

Passion Piece: How do you reconcile your private and professional lives?

Bartek: The duo which we create is just us and it’s difficult to exclude our professional life from our private life. I think it’s a good side of the right organization of work and the right division of duties. It’s also important to make good use of your free time.

Passion Piece: What’s the most difficult for you during your trainings and then performances?

Delfina: To be honest our performances are the icing on the cake after our long preparations. I think that the most difficult part is to find time for trainings with so many other duties and to motivate ourselves to attend our trainings.

Passion Piece: How have your lives changed after winning Got Talent?

Bartek: I must admit that our lives have significantly changed, but of course in a positive way. It has given us many new possibilities, primarily we could present ourselves in a talent show which reaches a lot of people and it allowed us to present ourselves, as well as to push ourselves forward. Thanks to this success we could distinguish ourselves from a group of great artists and promote ourselves well. We could also show that there is such an acrobatic duo like us and that we do that sort of things. We presented our skills which were highly appreciated by the viewers. As a result of being awarded we have received more invitations to different kinds of shows and numerous offers for professional cooperations.

Passion Piece: Is it worth taking part in talent shows to present yourself to wider audience?

Delfina: Definitely, you just need to take into account the fact that you’ll be assessed both by the jury and the viewers and that your life can turn upside down. You’ll either take your chance to succeed or not.

Passion Piece: What advice would you give to people who would like to try themselves in acrobatics?

Bartek: It’s always better to give something a try rather than to get discouraged at the beginning. Coming to the conclusion ‘… ermm it’s not for me’ is the easiest way. The truth is that the limits are often only in our heads.

Passion Piece: Have you got any other interests?

Delfina: Off the stage, Bartek is interested in motorization, and when it comes to me I like traveling and sightseeing. We both love spending our free time with our pets, we’ve got a dog and a bunny.

Passion Piece: What influence has your passion on your lives?

Bartek: Our passion gives us lots of motivation to take actions and to obtain our goals. We truly appreciate even our smallest successes. Handling many duties at a time taught us how to organize different things well, we had to learn many things on our own and in this way, through our experiences, we’ve become much wiser.

Passion Piece: Where do you see yourselves in 10 years’ time?

Delfina: On the stage! I think we’re quite creative to have enough ideas for choreographies for the next 10 years.

Passion Piece: Which motto would you like to share with my readers?

Delfina & Bartek: You should always set yourself goals and try hard to obtain them, believe in yourself, live your life to the fullest and be happy even about the smallest things.

Passion Piece: Thank you for this truly inspiring conversation and I wish you continued success and loads of amazing ideas for your future choreographies.

If you ever come to a conclusion that something is unattainable for you and you decide to give up before you have tried something new … you should look around and you’ll certainly notice many wonderful people who didn’t lack courage and determination to chase their dreams. I wish you continued success and persistence in obtaining even the most unrealistic goals!

See you around!

Yours,

Passion Piece

That's right, you must practice a lot to do such things with your body! :)

Dance is a kind of art which can arouse various emotions not only in the dancers, but also in the audience. I love these photos too! :)

I always wanted to be a dancer, specifically in ballet. But, my father was diagnosed with cancer early on when I was about 9. I did try to start dancing, and just when I was starting pointe, I blew out my knee running. I keep hoping that my doctor will be able to fix it and I can learn, but I really think my dancing days are over :( I live vicariously through people like this dynamic couple!

I'm so sorry for your dad! Hope that one day you'll be able to take up dancing just for your own pleasure! :)

They are amazing, that's for sure. I loved this interview. If my husband and I tried something like this, we'd kill each other.

    • Natalia October 26, 2018 Reply

If my boyfriend and I tried something like that ... it would probably be our first and last dance ever! However, it's great to watch such performances! :)

I like Creative Market's slogan, "there is an artist in every one". I also believe that is true.

The hardest part is to find talents in ourselves, once we do that our lives will change forever! :)

I wish I had the sustained discipline that these guys have. Takes a lot of hardwork and a set routine to master your craft.

    • Natalia October 26, 2018 Reply

That's true, they had to work hard to gain such results, but you need to work hard whenever you want to achieve any success. :)

Loved the interview. I have always wanted to try acrobatics but never had the guts. It seems so dangerous and foreign to me.

    • Natalia October 27, 2018 Reply

It seems to be too dangerous for me too! However, I just love looking at this couple! :)
