With passion in your kitchen, puff pastry cheese sticks

Passion Piece cheese sticks

This week has occurred to be very busy for me because of numerous duties at work and some problems at home … to make things worse, I’ve been suffering from cold for a while. I’ve been trying to focus on everything and nothing, as a consequence of all these little troubles bothering me on and on, I even didn’t notice that it’s been a week since I posted my last article. And to put it really bluntly, you know, I got the short end of the stick. I started thinking hard of a new topic for my article and I came up with an idea of a culinary recipe, since I haven’t posted anything related to food and cooking for a while!

I don’t know about you, but I’m a great gourmet of everything that tastes good! I’d be willing to become a food critic for one simple reason … I’d have a chance to try a great variety of dishes coming from different cuisines, as you can’t compare this taste sensation with anything else in the world.

As I’ve already mentioned I just love eating and I’m pretty good at it! When it comes to cooking I am far from Magda Gessler or Nigella Lawson. I had a thought that it would be great to show you my struggles in the kitchen, as we often say the fastest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach … so I must pull myself together and learn a few culinary tricks, so that my future husband doesn’t get to know at once, that he will never put on weight with me.

On a Sunday afternoon my mum prepared a very tasty and quick snack, just perfect for a party or a day with your friends. Today I’m going to present you a short recipe for puff pastry cheese sticks.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pieces of puff pastry

  • 20 dag of grated cheese

  • an egg

  • hot pepper

  • sweet pepper

  • salt

  • favourite herbs and spices

Estimated time of preparation:

around 30 min

Portions:

12 portions

Preparation:

Put one piece of puff pastry on the counter. Then scramble one egg and cover the surface of the earlier mentioned pastry with it. Sprinkle its surface with salt. Grate cheese and put it on the top of the earlier prepared pastry. You can sprinkle cheese with hot or sweet pepper, you can also mix both kinds of pepper and add some of your favourite herbs and spices to make it well-seasoned. On such a prepared layer put the remaining piece of puff pastry. Cover the top with the rest of your scrambled egg and sprinkle it with some more cheese. You can press the cheese gently to the surface of the pastry so that it’s better attached to it. Now you can cut the earlier prepared pieces of puff pastry into stripes about 1,5 cm wide each. Then twist the stripes gently to form plaits. Cover the baking sheet with some grease or bakery paper and put your cheese sticks on it, keep 2-3 cm distance between them. Bake the puff pastry cheese sticks for about 15-20 min in the oven previously heat to 200-220 degrees. It’s best to eat this snack when it’s still warm, but it also tastes good when you serve it cold.

I think that this recipe is a great alternative for the supermarket puff pastry cheese sticks, which are not only more expensive, but also full of ingredients harmful to our organism.

Bon appetit!

See you around!

Yours,

Passion Piece

    • Natalia March 28, 2018 Reply

They're really delicious, you should try to prepare them at home. I forgot that measurements differ depending on the country. 1 dag equals 0,01 kg.
