IN THE FRAME OF LIFE…
People have always been trying to define beauty and each century imposed its canons according to which mostly women were assessed, not having much choice they tried to adjust to the expectations and the ones who failed had to count on stroke of luck while searching for husbands and establishing their place in the society. They were frequently perceived as worse, excluded from what was offered only to women who complied with the expectations imposed by the pre-established unnatural criteria.
Hopefully, contemporary times more and more often leave some space for diversity, there is as much beauty as many people there are in the world. Thanks to such an approach a greater number of individuals can follow their dreams and search for their happiness in the niche which needs them at a given moment.
Happiness and beautiful people can be perfectly closed down in a frame, the one which is able to stop these fleeting moments forever, sometimes showing indistinguishable moments of happiness, love, but also the ones of sadness and suffering, which can last for years and fascinate everyone who happens to admire them. Photos are also a wonderful kind of memorabilia, which we can use to illustrate our life while narrating it to our dear ones or to total strangers.
I just love posing for photos, despite the fact that only recently I’m satisfied with what I can see in them. That’s why, I’m especially happy to introduce you to my today’s interviewee – Daisy Flowers – a model, actress, and influencer, who decided to share her own experiences with her viewers on her own YouTube channel.
Passion Piece: Could you tell my readers a few words about yourself?
Daisy: Well first, I’m Daisy! Hello! I’m a model, actress, and YouTuber, my channel and brand is World of Daisy Flowers. I’m multi-passionate and I just love to have fun, and enjoy this life.
Passion Piece: You are a truly active woman doing modeling, acting and running your own YouTube channel. What made you enter this type of industry?
Daisy: I honestly have been doing acting (in particular) since I was very young. I’ve always done it as a hobby, but I do have this itching dream to continue and to peruse being in at least one movie. I do want to take this a bit further and see where it goes. Modeling is something I’ve always talked about, but never pursued until I became an adult. I realized that instead of talking about it, why not just do it? When it comes to YouTube, I feel like it’s the best and a new way to express myself and show inside the life of what really does happen. When I was younger I never saw true and realistic representation of the industry(s) and I feel by pressing the record button I’m able to showcase that and also express myself in other ways, through fashion, dance, fitness, and whatever comes to mind!
Passion Piece: Living in the States gives lots of possibilities, but there’s also a huge competition. How did your first steps in modeling look like? What difficulties did you have to overcome?
Daisy: My first steps were actually telling myself, “I’m going to do this” and just reaching out to people in the industry. The difficulties I overcame are pushing forward even when I was told no. No matter what you do in life, you’re bound to get that answer, but in the modeling industry you get the answer “no”, but on steroids. Knowing I’m worthy has gotten me a long way.
Passion Piece: Which three pieces of advice would you give to every girl who would like to choose modeling career?
Daisy: 1. If you want to truly do modeling, whether it is a hobby, career, or other. Don’t let anything and I mean ANYTHING, shy you away from it. I’ve heard people say some of the smallest things that stop them from getting into the industry for example, one pimple, they are an inch too short, they don’t know how to dress well. Those things don’t stop you from getting into the industry—-you stop you.
2. It’s okay to take a break, we’re in a social media age, so we are supposed to always been on. That’s the expectation, but you can step away whenever you need to. The industry isn’t going anywhere. Don’t let people scare you. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, your health and personal needs come first before anything else.
3.You may be slow to growing in the industry, but there are definitely some who truly do grow overnight. Don’t compare yourself either way, your day 5 should never be compared to someone’s year 5. Especially, if they have access to resources you may not even know exist. It’s about trial and error and don’t let anyone take advantage of you!
Passion Piece: What’s your greatest success in modeling? Are there any particular projects you would like to take part in?
Daisy: My greatest success is having a magazine article written about me for the first time in Shoutout Miami Magazine and being an opening model for my first fashion show, called the Juneteenth Experience. I’m grateful to know my work is being seen and there is appreciation. As far as projects, my goal is to work with a commercial clothing brand as a catalog model.
Passion Piece: You’ve mentioned you also try yourself in acting. What type of roles do you enjoy most?
Daisy: The prissy, over dramatic, feminine kind and the ones who are overzealous with emotion.
Passion Piece: Do you see yourself on a big silver screen or rather on an old wooden stage? Why?
Daisy: I see myself on a big silver screen. I did theater when I was younger and I loved it, especially the traditional aspect it has to it, but I loved the on-screen acting classes I’ve taken in the past and being on film, it’s just different and more natural flowing.
Passion Piece: You run your own channel on YouTube. What can your viewers find there?
Daisy: My viewers can see a visual portfolio of what I do as a model/actress, I showcase that through vlogs and mini videos. I also give tips on the industry as well, fashion hauls, fitness ! And whatever other fun random things I want to post on YouTube.
Passion Piece: Where do you find your inspirations for the videos?
Daisy: My Inspiration just comes from what events I may have going on that is related to the industry, but other times it is whatever my heart is calling for me to post. Most importantly, what my viewers may be interested in. My viewers really enjoyed my fashion haul and videos where I mention such, so I’m definitely in the midst of posting just that, so, if you’re reading this, drop a comment below one of my videos and tell me what videos you may want to see or what you may want to know about the industry!
Passion Piece: What do you love doing in your free time?
Daisy: Sleep, eating, watching T.V. ,working out, and repeat.
Passion Piece: Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
Daisy: I can’t say what I’ll be doing in 10 years, as I am currently living the in the now.
Passion Piece: Which motto would you like to share with my readers?
Daisy: Use every obstacle as a chance to opportunity. Just because one door closes doesn’t mean another won’t open, or better yet, you can create one.
Passion Piece: Thank you very much for this truly inspiring conversation and I can’t wait for your future successes!
See you around!
Yours,
Passion Piece
