The weekly interview: Clyde

Passion Piece - Clyde cover

Introverts in their digital world…

Nowadays, despite living in difficult times, we are given lots of opportunities to express ourselves in various ways, especially the ones, which suit our personalities best. Great platforms for sharing our thoughts are blogs and web journals, which can be run by everyone, who feels like writing and knows how to put words together to make sensible sentences.

Sometimes, it happens that the external world and people can be quite overwhelming, espepscially for those who are introverts by nature and prefer hanging out in smaller groups of friends or spending their free time on their own.

Thanks to their own platforms they can share their thoughts with a wider audience, and in the same way, they can prove that they have as much to say as extroverts do, but they prefer to express themselves in a slightly different way.

I’m pleased to introduce you to my today’s interviewee – Clyde, a girl who thanks to her passion for writing has found the way to connect with her readers in the virtual world, not forgetting about who she is and about the ways in which she loves spending her free time.

Passion Piece: Could you tell my readers a few words about yourself?

Clyde: Hi, I’m Clyde from the Philippines. I’m in my 20’s and I am a nurse in Germany. I arrived in Germany in 2016 without any idea of what was waiting ahead of me – my goal was just to work as a nurse. Working as a nurse is not an easy job, especially if you’re a small Asian and you’re dealing with German patients.

Sometimes, it doesn’t matter if it pays better than in your home country if you found your true passion, you just need to work on it – which I am doing right now through my blog.

Besides working as a nurse, I blog and work as a freelance graphic designer and Pinterest manager. I like to search for things on Google too, especially for more job opportunities that I could find online, because I love having an online side-hustle.

Passion Piece: You run a blog titled ‘What Blogs Her Mind’. The very first question that comes to my mind sounds as follows: so what blogs your mind?

Clyde: I couldn’t decide on the right domain name, so I told myself, I didn’t have enough content to post on my blog and I was in the phase of deciding on what to post. That’s why, I chose the name What Blogs Her Mind, which perfectly describes me and my blog – I share my thoughts on various matters, particularly the ones I’m thinking about in a given moment. Now I am still thinking of the right topics to help other bloggers, especially women, in the blogging and digital world. Aside from that, online opportunities and being involved in online business are seriously the issues that blog my mind now.

Passion Piece: What do you mostly write about? How do you choose the topics you focus on?

Clyde: At first, I wrote about topics related to health and lifestyle, but later on I added topics for and about women. I’ve been blogging for years, so I have already gained knowledge and skills in the blogging and digital world, therefore I also add this type of posts. First, I usually look for a topic then the relevant keywords for this particular topic. But since I have random thoughts, sometimes ideas just pop out on their own. Even though I want to note them down, just like I used to before, I consider first if these ideas or topics are relevant to my blog and my readers.

Passion Piece: Are your texts aimed at women specifically? If not, what can men find on your website?

Clyde: My blog may be more directed to women, maybe because of the domain name, but men are also welcome to read posts which are obviously dedicated to female readers, but some of them may be useful for men as well, for example what type of women should a man avoid dating or marrying, how to deal with PMS since we all know especially women with partners, husbands and boyfriends, how difficult it is to deal with that indescribable mood and they would like to know how they could support their women in this difficult time. I also publish blog posts about blogging and we can’t simply say, blogging is for women only and these blogging tips are exclusive only for women. So male visitors shouldn’t have any reason to avoid reading my texts.

Passion Piece: How would you like to expand your blog? Are there any particular projects you’d like to accomplish?

Clyde: I’ve been working on producing more templates that are relevant to bloggers, content creators and virtual assistants for my shop and membership product which I hope would thrive in the near future. Other than that, I’m also working on affiliate marketing and improving my SEO knowledge which I have applied in my blog.

Passion Piece: Are blogs still a thing in 2022?

Clyde: Yes, definitely! Your blog is almost the end station when you’re marketing or selling something. And for those who love to read, reading blogs is one of the most common pastimes you can engage yourself in. Aside from that, blogs have more personal touch than a website article – when you’re reading a blog, it’s like you’re hearing someone or a friend speaking to you on a personal level.

Passion Piece: You call yourself an introvert. What assets do introverts have when it comes to writing and standing behind a blog? How do you take care of your social media in that case?

Clyde: I am not sure if it’s just me or it’s something inside me, or maybe other introverts have the same feeling about the whole thing – but I usually like to write down my thoughts rather than say them. For me writing is my safe haven. I blog about issues I could never say in person – other times, I find myself writing a bit harshly or maybe brazenly, but sometimes I express my opinions in a nicer way. As an introvert blogger, I could spend more time alone or just at home doing things I enjoy the most – just being alone and writing in peace. Having a social media presence is not a problem for me though, but only if we talk about managing Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook pages and groups without requiring me to do any live or video clips. That’s why, I’m still hesitant to start a TikTok account, since I’ve noticed most accounts that perform well have their own video clips and I still couldn’t bring myself to do that.

Passion Piece: What do you love doing in your free time? Is there a dream little thing you’d like to try out?

Clyde: When I have free time, I just want to relax at home, but I have to go out too. I usually go for a walk in the park or drink coffee outside. I wish I could swim or bike too, but I am always afraid to try such things out. And since we’re more in the digital world now, I wish I could learn and create a website from scratch.

Passion Piece: Where do you see yourself in the nearest future?

Clyde: Hopefully, I will be managing my digital business soon and I will be helping others to achieve their goals, which is creating a business online. Other than that – I’d love to gain a certain financial freedom.

Passion Piece: Thank you very much for this interesting conversation and I wish you success in your blogging.

See you around!

Yours,

Passion Piece
