Traveling is certainly one of many ways of getting to know about the surrounding world, both when it comes to the one placed at our fingertips and the one placed a little bit farther than that. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this freedom was totally restricted for some time, but finally the citizens have been given the possibility to move around quite freely until the moment of next crisis caused by the earlier mentioned deadly virus.
We often dream of distant countries and exotic trips, not being aware of the fact that so many amazing places are right under our nose, one could even say in our own backyard. Why do I really mention this? You’re totally right, I’m doing that not without a certain reason. Last weekend I had a chance to visit a wonderful architectural gem – the Moszna Castle, which fascinates not only with its fabulous architecture, but also with its a bit complicated history.

The Moszna Castle is located in a village of Moszna, in southwestern Poland. It’s a building which catches the eyes of all its visitors, this fact makes it possible to call this place one of the best known tourist attractions of the Upper Silesian region. The building was built in the 17th century as a baroque palace. Its current look is a result of the reconstruction that took place after the fire which partially destroyed the palace in 1896. The old part of the castle was reconstructed, moreover the eastern neogothic wing with an adjacent orangery was built around 1900, later on the palace was extended and the western neo-renaissance wing was built. The whole building is surrounded by the extensive park, where its visitors can take a stroll along the paths and admire beautiful lush vegetation of this unique place.

The castle changed hands a few times, and its last owners was Tiele-Winckler family, whose members were known as industrial magnates. This line hosted such great figures as the German Emperor Wilhelm II. The Tiele-Winckler family was forced to leave the castle in spring 1945.

The Moszna Castle has a wide offer created just with its guests in mind. Besides sightseeing of some impressive chambers and historic areas, one can also stay in a hotel and take care of one’s own biological renewal at the spa. After a day full of excitement one can have a delicious dinner in the castle restaurant or have an aromatic coffee in the castle cafeteria. The building is also surrounded by a number of interesting stalls offering regional products and souvenirs. For all lovers of horses and animals, there are stables situated just next to the castle.
I can recommend this place in all conscience to everyone who wants to relax surrounded by beautiful architecture, as well as lush vegetation which can be found all around the building. It’s also worth checking the castle offer on its website, as one can find there interesting events organized to make the time spent on the property even more pleasant.

See you around!
Yours,
Passion Piece
