The weekly interview: Reut Shaviro

Passion Piece - Reut Shaviro- cover

To the rhythm of the sounds…

When I think about what my life is consisted of, namely about the things I couldn’t live without, my thoughts focus on the sounds. Constant vibrations, rattling noises of the wheels and laud car horns, lively hustle and bustle in a crowded café, a man in his overalls shouting from his delivery van: ‘Potatoes, potaaaaatoess!’ or cheerful melodies coming out of one of the radio speakers.

All these, I’ve just mentioned above, create the music of our lives, thanks to which we can not only establish contacts with others, but also look deep inside ourselves. All these sounds allow us to get to know the surrounding us world and enjoy everything it could potentially offer us.

Of course, not everyone is able to reproduce these fascinating sounds in a way to please other people. This gift is given to a relatively small group of people. However, I could quote here the lines of a popular song: ‘everyone can sing, a bit better or a bit worse…’. Fortunately, in the Internet age and accompanied by omnipresent social media, the selection of trash music from the one which is worth our attention is relatively easy, even though non-obvious.

I’m pleased to introduce you to my today’s interviewee – Reut Shaviro, whose life has been filled with sounds and music since her early childhood. This is the music among other passions which she decided to devote her life to. Following the career of a singer or a producer isn’t easy, and the dangers can be found around every corner. These challenges can be faced only by the ones who know the characteristics of the music industry together with its rules.

Passion Piece: Could you tell my readers a few words about yourself?

Reut: I’m Reut. I am a singer, music producer, songwriter and lifestyle blogger. These days, I’m working on my new music and more services to be opened soon on my blog.

Passion Piece: You’re a singer, music producer and a makeup artist. Which of these passions had appeared first?

Reut: My first love has always been music. At the age of 5 I was learning how to play the piano at the music center in my city. I just started attending the piano lessons because I wanted to learn something more and I found myself playing the piano all day long or watching MTV instead.

Passion Piece: Singing may be challenging at times, especially nowadays, when everyone can present oneself on the Internet, lowering the costs of music production. How do you try to stand out of the crowd?

Reut: Continue to believe in yourself and work hard. Just do not try to look like anyone else. I make music every day with original songs and I send them to all kinds of producers or I do beats. In this industry you should always believe and be in action. Keep up and do the good work, even though it is sometimes difficult.

Passion Piece: How did your first steps in the music industry look like?

Reut: The first years were difficult for me. I was more insecure and shy than today. I was recording covers for YouTube in the studio and I was taking some sound development classes to get better results without knowing how difficult this world could be. It was accompanied by a lot of depression and crying because I didn’t understand why it was so difficult at first, but after two years I noticed some results and understood how this industry operated.

Passion Piece: What’s the type of music you love performing best? Is there a song you could sing with your eyes closed, no matter where or in front of whom you’d perform?

Reut: I really like performing pop songs from the 90’s and early 2000’s, especially because this was my childhood period. To this day I listen to and perform my favorite songs from this period. So I think these are the pieces of music I could sing with my eyes closed.

Passion Piece: What’s your biggest success in that area?

Reut: The most successful time was the period of the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Suddenly, all the doors opened for me in the field and I participated online in the VOCALIZEU artists’ camp in Los Angeles, a place I had always wanted to get to and I was always too afraid to try.

Passion Piece: Are there any new projects you’re working on at the moment? Who would you like to record a song with?

Reut: Currently, I’m working on a new song that is about to be released real soon and my own online course that is going to be uploaded to my blog with a personal trip planning meeting service for those who want it.

I can’t think of anyone right now!

Passion Piece: How have you shifted from being a singer to being a producer? Do you release other artists’ songs as well?

Reut: I had wanted to study music in college ever since and in 2015 I decided it was the right time for me to do it. I wanted to learn how to make my own music and how to create music for others as well. These aspects have always been interesting to me. There was a time when I just stopped doing my work, but at the beginning of the pandemic I went back to what I loved so much. I was exposed to the SOUNDBETTER website. This was the point from which I started making music and sending it to producers, songwriters and mix technicians from the music industry.

For the time being I focus on promoting my own music.

Passion Piece: You decided to set up your own website. What can your readers find there? Which topics do you touch upon most often?

Reut: Readers can find lots of posts on fashion, fitness tips and healthy recipes. I wanted to set up this blog to centralize all the information for women mostly.

Passion Piece: Where do you find your daily inspirations? Is there a good way to motivate oneself even if everything goes wrong?

Reut: There is nothing specific I would take my inspiration from. I just think about the matters which are the most urgent for me to work on during a particular day and I plan my schedule for that day.

Passion Piece: What do you love doing in your free time? How do you try to find the right balance in your life?

Reut: I really like watching movies, going out with friends, and of course, listening to music. I find the balance on days when I work half a day or on my days off.

Passion Piece: What are your plans for the nearest future? What would you like to accomplish?

Reut: Continue to do what I do and get a career in the international industry in Hollywood. I would really like to fulfill that childhood dream and finally achieve it.

Passion Piece: Which motto would you like to share with my readers?

Reut: Always be true to yourself and to what you do. Don’t try to resemble anyone else.

Passion Piece: Thank you very much for this truly inspiring conversation and I hope that all your plans and new project will turn to be a real success.

See you around!

Yours,

Passion Piece
